Before you write to us
We cannot give personal medical advice. If your question is about your own pregnancy, your baby’s symptoms or a medication, please speak to your midwife, doctor, pharmacist or paediatrician — they can examine your child and see the full history, and a website cannot. If your baby is unwell and you are worried, contact emergency services or your nearest emergency department immediately.

Accuracy matters more to us than being right. If you find an error of fact, tell us and we will check it against the source, fix it and note the change at the foot of the article. Serious corrections are flagged at the top of the page.
