The terms that govern your use of SA Baby, including acceptable use, intellectual property, disclaimers and liability.
1. Agreement
By using sa.baby you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please stop using the site.
2. What this site is
SA Baby publishes general information about pregnancy, babies, children and family life, plus free calculators and a baby-name dictionary. It is an information service, not a medical, legal or financial service, and using it does not create a professional relationship of any kind.
3. Acceptable use
You may read, print and share our pages for personal, non-commercial use. You may not scrape the site at scale, republish substantial extracts, resell our content or database, upload malicious code, attempt to break authentication, harass other readers in the comments, or use the site in any unlawful way.
4. Intellectual property
All articles, illustrations, calculator logic, the baby-name database and the site design are owned by SA Baby or used under licence, and are protected by copyright. Short quotations with a visible credit and a working link back are welcome. Wholesale copying is not.
5. User contributions
If you post a comment or send us a story, you keep ownership of it but grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to publish, edit for length and clarity, and archive it. You confirm the content is yours and does not break the law or another person’s rights. We may remove any contribution at our discretion.
6. Medical and professional disclaimer
Nothing on this site is medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. See our Medical Disclaimer. Always speak to a qualified professional about your own or your child’s health.
7. Tools and calculators
Our calculators give estimates based on published population averages and standard formulas. Every pregnancy and every child is different. Results are for orientation only and must never override the guidance of your midwife, doctor or paediatrician.
8. Third-party links and advertising
We link to external sites and display advertising. We do not control third-party content and are not responsible for it. Following an external link is at your own risk.
9. Availability
We aim for a fast, always-on site, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access, and we may change, suspend or remove any part of the site at any time.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, SA Baby is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised version.
